My family immigrated to the United States in 1991. It was a hard choice that my parents made to provide us with a better life. Hard work and perseverance allowed for my mom to resume her career as a Registered Nurse. Medicine and Nursing has always been “in my blood” as one can say. I followed my mom's foot steps into Nursing and it has been one of the most rewarding decisions I have made.
When patients say..
Patients always ask me , “ when will you be a Doctor?” Or they will address me as “Doctor Sharon” which I correct them. One patient told me that in her country, Doctor means someone who has studied their craft. In all respect to the Physicians, Nurse Practitioners are Nurses and I do not claim to be a Physician. Mostly, I do think that Physicians and Nurse Practitioners can work together and help our patients improve their health. Nurse Practitioners give a different perspective to healthcare. We are bred from Nursing which in essence is exactly the meaning of the word per the dictionary “the profession or practice of providing care for the sick and infirm”.
What is in store for the future?
Sky is the limit. I have plans to continue practicing and providing care to patients if they allow me. I will, in the future, incorporate other aspects of healthcare including possible aesthetics, concierge healthcare, fluid replacements, and more.
